Bird and the Bee - Christmas

Well, it appears that the holidays are creeping up on us already. They have started playing Christmas music non-stop on some radio stations and in most shopping centers. I don't really mind, I love Christmas music, but it does feel a bit premature sometimes, but at least Thanksgiving is past.

But regardless of the fact that it is not quite December yet, iTunes is celebrating by having the free single of the week be The Bird and the Bee (whom I featured here a number of months ago) doing one of my favorite Christmas carols "Carol of the Bells".

Considering it is free, it is most certainly worth checking out.

It must be Spring...

Here in Southern Ohio it's a lovely 73 degrees today. I spent an hour sitting on the balcony of my 3rd floor apartment reading the Paste magazine that arrived in the mail for me today, listening to ye ol' iPod and watching a resident groundhog scamper around on the ground below. I also saw the first bees of the season, it indeed must be Spring.

The Bird and the Bee

The Bird and the Bee are one of the most talked about new bands it seems, having just released their first record (an EP entitled Again and Again and Again) in December. They are a duo consisting of singer/songwriter Inara George and Greg Kurstin. Their self-titled debut album hits stores January 23rd. Fans of Ivy will certainly enjoy their music, as they have a similar 60's-esque breathy style. I think I prefer The Bird and the Bee over Ivy because of the slightly more light-heartedness to the music, though.

They will be appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday, the 25th. Tune in and check them out! Until then, visit my favorite music blog, Womenfolk, to hear The Bird and the Bee's track "F*cking Boyfriend".
