Tori for Christmas

It's that time of year. The time of year where many of us start gathering all our favorite Christmas music together to get in the spirit of the season.

My favorite artist is Tori Amos so it's always nice when your favorite artist can help you celebrate the holidays by recording some Christmas songs. Generally I enjoy the Christmas songs sung by more classic artists, or at least sung very classically, but it's nice to have renditions by your favorite singers. In some ways it is strange for Tori to do Christmas songs because she is known to be somewhat skeptical about traditional Christianity, but growing up with a Methodist minister as a father and singing in the choir, she definitely knows her way around a Christmas carol.

The good folks at Here In My Head, perhaps the best Tori fan website out there, have uploaded some of Tori's Christmas songs, though many are improvs or incomplete. Here are links to her two complete songs, both quite lovely in my opinion:

The Office meets Indie Rock

Props to Music for Ants for pointing out that Rashida Jones, who plays Karen on The Office, is the cute girl who dances around in the Boy Least Likely To video for his song "Be Gentle With Me"! Major indie cred for Rashida, right there. I love The Boy Least Likely To, it is perhaps one of the finds I am most excited about this year. I hadn't seen the video for months, so I hadn't realized, not to mention she looks quite different in her white tights and vintage jacket than in her normal Scranton office attire.
